The Madurese and Javanese people commonly use Jodang during wedding processions. Family members fill the Jodang with presents, often household goods and parade on bamboo sticks (which is why they have holes on the top) to be gifted to the newlyweds.
The more intricate the carvings are on the Jodang, the higher the family class.
These cultural pieces make for beautiful storage pieces and are incredibly gorgeous in the living room as a coffee table, in the entryway, or at the foot of the bed.
