A distinctive pair of carved wooden figures from Flores, Indonesia, identified as Ana Deo, a traditional form of ancestral sculpture associated with the island’s indigenous cultural and spiritual traditions. Such figures are linked to ancestral veneration and beliefs surrounding the relationship between the living and their ancestors.

Carved from wood, both figures feature elongated necks, stylized faces with prominent ears, and rounded, stacked headdresses. Their arms are crossed over their chests, while their bent legs and compact seated postures create a strong, symmetrical silhouette. The deeply weathered surfaces, dark patina, and visible wear lend the pair a compelling sense of age and sculptural character.
