A finely carved Balinese wooden figure depicting a winged celestial maiden, or Bidadari, adorned with an elaborate crown, prominent ear ornaments and richly ornamented traditional attire. Carved from jackfruit wood, the figure is distinguished by its expansive, individually detailed wings and a decorative palette of deep green, faded red, ochre and gilt.
Created in the 1990s, the sculpture is believed to have originated in Singaraja, North Bali, and is attributed to a senior, highly regarded local sculptor. Its intricate carving and traditional polychrome decoration reflect the enduring craftsmanship of Balinese wood sculpture.
